The IT Staffing Playbook for Enterprise Teams
A step-by-step approach to filling enterprise IT roles faster without lowering the bar.
For hiring managers, Heads of Delivery and talent leaders
Most enterprise IT roles do not stay open because talent does not exist — they stay open because the requirement is vague, screening is slow, and the hiring model does not fit the work. This playbook is the sequence we use with clients, from intake call to a placed and productive contractor.
1. Anchor to the role, not the job title
Start with what the person must accomplish in the first ninety days. Titles are inconsistent across companies; outcomes are not. Every downstream decision — sourcing channel, screening criteria, rate — gets easier once the outcome is written down.
2. Separate must-haves from preferences
Walk the requirement line by line and sort it. Most stalled requisitions are carrying preferences disguised as requirements.
- Must-haves: the skills the work genuinely cannot proceed without
- Nice-to-haves: valuable, but trainable or coverable by the team
- Disqualifiers: the things that end a candidacy, stated plainly
3. Choose the hiring model that fits the work
Project-shaped work belongs on Flexible On-Demand. Roles you want permanent but need proven belong on Contract-to-Hire or Temp-to-Perm. Forcing every role into one model is what makes hiring slow.
4. Screen with AI, decide with people
Persona Recruit ranks and scores candidates against the structured requirement and shows the evidence behind each score. Recruiters then interview and validate. Managers see a short, explained list instead of a resume pile.
5. Clear onboarding before the offer
Background checks, access approvals and contractor paperwork are the most common cause of a slipped start date. Confirm them while candidates are still in process, not after they accept.
6. Review fit, then convert
Set a conversion checkpoint at the start of the contract. Everyone knows what proving out looks like, and strong contractors become permanent hires on evidence rather than instinct.
- Define the ninety-day outcome, not the title
- Sort must-haves from preferences before sourcing
- Match the staffing model to the shape of the work
- AI screens the pile; recruiters make the call
